Childe's invention of Purpler came as a shock to the hero Lockharts (this was well before the Praetorian invasions of the WarWorks 'Mechs). However, they quickly saw the benefit of having a droid of their own. Thus, the first of their droid series was fabricated with the idea of helping out the younger set of heroes in the super group. Seeing Ecru on the field was the event that motivated Myrdinn Dark and Childe to fabricate RMDIR -R.
